Ryanair’s description of hand luggage size
The following is how Ryanair describes the size allowed for your hand luggage:
“Passengers may carry on board one small cabin bag of up to 40 x 20 x 25cms (no allowance for infants travelling on their parent’s lap). We have increased the size of our small bag sizer from 35 x 20 x 20cm (14,000 cm³) to 42 x 20 x 30 cm (25,200 cm³) to allow carry-on bags that are larger than our previous permitted small bag dimensions.”
Important info about Ryanair’s hand luggage limits
Passengers without Priority & 2 Cabin Bags are allowed only 1 small bag.
Ryanair passengers with Priority & 2 Cabin Bags (including Plus or Flexi Plus tickets) are allowed 1 small bag and 1 cabin bag.
Priority & 2 Cabin Bags costs €/£6 when purchased at booking; it costs €/£8 any time after booking, and can only be done up to 30 minutes before departure. This also carries the benefit of boarding via priority queue and skipping the baggage belt.
Ryanair’s cabin bag size is 55 x 40 x 20cm/21.5 x 15.5 x 8 in, while cabin bag weight is 10kgs/22 pounds. All Ryanair passengers are allowed a small bag, with a maximum size of 40 x 25 x 20 cm/15.7 x 9.8 x 7.8 in. Ryanair does not indicate a weight limit for small bags is not indicated.
Customers without Priority & 2 Cabin Bags who want to bring a second bag can purchase Ryanair’s 10kg Check-in Bag policy, which allows passengers to bring a 10kg bag for €/£20, either at the airport or during booking, or €/£25 at the boarding gate.
At the boarding gate, Ryanair will refuse oversized cabin baggage or, if available, place it in the hold for a fee of €/£50 (subject to VAT on domestic flights at applicable government rates). In addition, Ryanair requires passengers to have an account in order to book flights.
