Air Baltic has an option to purchase an additional 4 kg / 8.8 lb (for a total of 12 kg / 26.4 lb) when you book your ticket. Prices for the additional cabin baggage weight start at 11.99 euros.

Keep in mind that this extra weight is much cheaper to purchase when you book your ticket. If you get to the gate and they weigh your bag, it will cost 75 euros for overweight cabin luggage.

If your hand luggage is found to be bigger than the size restrictions, you will be forced to check it (their site states “where available”) for a 75 euro fee.

The weight limit for carry on luggage is a bit confusing on the Air Vanuatu website.

When looking at both the “baggage” tab and the “domestic” tab on the page linked above, in some places it’s listed as 5 kg while in others it’s listed as 7 kg, both for the same destination.

However, under the “domestic” tab, the maximum weight allowed listed is 11 lbs (converted) / 5 kg (official) for all destinations mentioned: travel from/to Vanuatu, travel from/to Australia/New Zealand, travel from/to New Caledonia/Fiji.

I will list all possibilities found on their website, even when they appear to contradict themselves. I recommend verifying your allowance when booking your ticket.

Since certain items are not permitted in checked luggage, and certain items are recommended to be kept in your carry on luggage, make sure your ID, cash and credit cards, valuables, fragile items, medications, laptops, cameras, batteries, other electronics, lighters and matches, electronic cigarettes, etc. are all in your personal item.
